Interesting Sighting Details of the Mamlambo
When it comes to mysterious creatures, few are able to match the gruesomeness of the Mamlambo monster. This mythical creature from the deep regions of Africa is feared by a multitude of cultures spanning from various geographical locations.
The Mamlambo is a fish-like monster that is said to have the head of a horse. The first sightings of this creature were in the river of Mzintlava in Southern Africa, which happens to be the Mamlambo’s current and permanent place of residence.
The Mamlambo thrives in the rainy season and usually takes its prey during strong thunderstorms. Unfortunately for us, the Mamlambo has been known to victimize not only animals, but people as well. Eyewitness accounts claim that this creature drags its prey underwater and drowns them. In 1997, reports stats that the Malambo monster killed around nine human victims, the last of which was a young girl who was later found buried in the dirt near the river.
What makes this monster so gruesome is the fact that it eats the faces of its victims and then continues on to suck on their brains. The Mamlambo is a huge monster that measures around 67 feet or 20 meters long. Because of its horrific feeding habits, all of Mount Ayliff (the mountain surrounding the Mzintlava River) has a feeling of hatred and fear towards the Mamlambo.
There have been a number of villager-led campaigns that aimed to eradicate these monsters. Unfortunately, none have been successful yet. One of the reasons why the Mamlambo is so elusive is because it chooses to live on its own.
In terms of its place in history, the Mamlambo is actually rooted from the Xhosa tribe of South Africa and their tribal mythology. They believe that this creature, depicted as a gigantic river snake, can actually bring luck and good fortune to whoever owns it. Some witch doctors even summon the Mamlambo in order to harm their enemies.
While the ancient description of the Mamlambo may be a bit different from what it has been described as today, there is very little doubt that we are all speaking of the same thing. Both creatures, may it be snake-like or half-fish and half-horse, the fact of the matter is that the Mamlambo is for real.
As with other creatures of this type, science has tried its hand to explain that which is clouded in mystery. Some say that it is a descendant of the Elasmosaur primarily because of its elongated neck and aquatic habitat. On the other hand, others believe that it is a type of Archaeocete or more commonly known as ancient whales.
This theory places the Mamlombo in a very early place in terms of the evolution of this creature as its flippers have yet to transform into legs.
